President Jacob Zuma

Jacob ZumaSouth African President Jacob Zuma is embroiled in a raging controversy over the involvement of 400 of his government’s troops in a failed attempt last month to defeat a coup in the Central African Republic.

The main allegation is that the troops, 16 of whom were killed, were in the CAR not to defend the government, but to protect the financial interests of Zuma’s African national Congress party.
